Rain radar & satellite
Rain radar: RainViewer
What am I looking at?
This map shows rain happening right now, picked up by weather radar. The colours run from light to heavy: Blue — light rain or drizzle Green — steady rain Yellow/orange — heavy rain Red — a downpour or thunderstorm White dot — Barbados (you) Press ▶ Play radar to watch which way the rain is moving — that's where it's heading. When a storm is active, the amber cone shows where its centre could track over the next 5 days (the NHC forecast plus its average error) — the storm's winds and rain reach well beyond the thin line.

Get ready

Simple steps for hurricane season in Barbados. The season runs 1 June to 30 November.

Before the season

  • Pack a grab bag: water (1 gallon per person per day for 3 days), tinned food, a tin opener, torch, batteries, power bank, first-aid kit and any medication.
  • Keep ID, insurance and house papers in a sealed waterproof bag.
  • Know your nearest hurricane shelter and how you'll get there.
  • Trim trees and clear gutters and drains around the house.
  • Save emergency numbers in your phone — and write them down too.

When a watch is issued

  • Top up fuel, cash, drinking water and phone charge.
  • Bring in or tie down anything loose outside — bins, furniture, galvanise.
  • Check on elderly neighbours and relatives.
  • Charge devices and download offline maps.
  • Follow Barbados Met Services and DEM updates daily.

When a warning is issued

  • Finish every preparation now — weather can arrive before the storm's centre.
  • Fill containers and the bath with water; freeze ice and bottles.
  • Shutter or board up windows and stay away from glass.
  • If you're in a flood- or surge-prone area, move to shelter early.
  • Stay indoors and away from the coast until officials give the all-clear.
